Stage Ai was founded by the first generation of students from Mainland China to study the integral approaches to philosophy, psychology and therapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). Stage Ai is exploring new approaches to integrate Western psychology and Eastern wisdom, and to bridge the gap between academic scholarship and the daily life experience.
Initiated in 2010 and established in 2015, Stage Ai is a growing team that has attracted visionary and passionate scholars, practitioners, business consultants, and artists from both China and the West.
Yan Chen: Founder and Executive Director
Yan Chen is a pioneering learner and the first Chinese graduate from the Integral Counseling Psychology program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). She is also the first award recipient of the diversity leadership scholarship by the New York Foundation at CIIS and the first graduate from mainland China to complete the comprehensive training at Hakomi Institute of California in body-approached psychotherapy. Yan Chen is an internationally certified human resources professional, gaining her credential in New York. Prior to founding Stage Ai, Yan Chen worked for international humanitarian organizations such as Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and Refugee International as well as L3 Communications, a Fortune 500 company. Yan Chen had also worked for various international projects in India, Tajikistan, London, Vancouver, San Francisco, and New York. As someone committed to integrating her life experience and passion towards life, she leads a conscious team in the building of a holistic bridge between China and the world.
Paul King: Business Development
Silicon Valley entrepreneur with a particular interest at the intersection of psychology, technology and consciousness. He previously worked in data science at Facebook, and conducted research in computational neuroscience as a vising scholar at UC Berkeley. He sees the Bridging of eastern and western thought a contribution to the contribution to the evolution of global society and consciousness.
Ralph White: Program Development
Co-founder of the New York Open Center and previously program director of Omega Institute for Holistic Studies. He has created hundreds of programs across the spectrum of holistic learning. In particular, he directs the Esoteric Quest conferences in Europe on the Western Tradition that have now continued for twenty years. He has been a seminal presence in the development of the global network of holistic centers.
Joseph L. Subbiondo: Partnering development
President Emeritus of California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), served as President of CIIS from 1999-2016. He has led and served on more than 25 accreditations visiting teams for U.S. colleges and universities in the Western and North Western regions.

CIIS is a graduate school in San Francisco that takes an integral, interdisciplinary approach to education. It is one of the earliest and leading academic organization focused on transpersonal and integral studies. New York Open Center
The New York Open Center offers holistically-based educational programs to create positive transformation in individuals and the world. Programs are offered in spiritual inquiry and practice, psychology and self-development, holistic health, bodywork, movement and yoga, arts and creativity. The center also features concerts, performances and other events.
Healing the Wounds of History
Healing the Wounds of History is a process in which experiential techniques are used to work with a group of participants who share a common legacy of historical trauma. The process is based on the premise that there can be no political solutions to intercultural conflict until we understand and take into consideration the needs, emotions and unconscious drives of the human being.
